Factoria Biography

The man behind the Factoria project is UK based producer and DJ Dave Dowsett.
Factoria productions appear regularly in the playlists of many A-List DJ’s including Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and Above and Beyond as well as radio airplay from Dave Pearce on BBC Radio 1 and Paul Kershaw on Galaxy FM.

Dave was born in the South East Of England in 1981, and still resides down on the South East coast. His love for electronic dance music stems all the way back to the early 90’s influenced by more commercial acts such including N-trance and Admaski.

He started out producing with a simple setup of an Amiga 500 and tracker software Octamed, In the years 97 – 99 he was heavily influenced by all the euphoric trance music exploding onto the scene and soon became hooked. There are simply too many tracks to name but classics like Binary Finary -1998, System F – Out Of The Blue, Paul Van Dyk – For An Angel and Armin – Commmunication inspired him to push on with his production ideas.

In Sept 1999 Dave moved from the South Coast to the University Of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. He then spent the next three years at the University studying Music Technology. Producing took a backseat for these three years so he could concentrate on his degree, and tighten up on his production skills.
In 2003 when working as a freelance studio engineer at Profusion studios he teamed up with DJ Oceanforce to produce the track Conductivity. This was later released on Oceanforce’s label Elevation Records in the summer of 2003 and received good support from many high profile DJs including 3 Weeks Airplay on BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems show. This was followed by the first Factoria solo release a two track affair ‘Twist of Fate / Digital Destination’ also released on Elevation records. Dave and Oceanforce also teamed up to form the Bass Enchanters Project soon after the conductivity release.

The Track that helped propel Dave into the scene was the 'Factoria' remix of 'Electrovoya - Whispers', Already in love with the original he took a great amount in pleasure in remixing this amazing track. He gained much recognition for this remix and it was spun by all the top DJs including DJ Tiesto and Ferry Corsten.

In the summer of 2004 ‘Factoria - A Legends Legacy’ helped push forward the Factoria project even more with support from just about every A-List DJ, including Armin Van Buuren and Paul Van Dyk. Releases ‘Collision Course’, ‘Twisting Free’, followed and once again supported by many A’ list DJ’s, recognition in Mixmag / DJ magazine and other publications and plenty of radio airplay. This year also saw the release of one of Dave's biggest tracks to date ‘Factoria - Kissed By An Angel’, backed with a stunning remix by Arksun (of Anjunabeats), ‘Kissed By An Angel’ found its way into the records bags and boxes of some of the worlds biggest trance DJ’s including: Paul Van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Johan Gielen, Ronski Speed, Smith & Pledger, Thrillseekers, Paul Kershaw, Dave Pearce, Lange and many more!

As well as producing the tracks Dave loves to spin them out and highlights of Dave's DJ outings so far include appearances at Asta in the Netherlands and ‘Passion’ in the UK.
Along with his single productions Dave has remixed for many top trance labels including Armadas A State Of Trance Label in Holland, Matt Darey's Darey Products, Monster Tunes in the UK and Drizzly Records in Germany.

2007 is set to be a strong year for the Factoria project. The highly anticipated single Factoria – 'Revive' will be released on Breeze Records before the summer and more ideas are being transformed into tracks in the studio as you read this!
